Wahooo! Celebrate!!!
then...
I want you to think of one of your teachers. (please don't choose me)
It can be any teacher from any grade.
I want you to tell me who it is and something you really appreciate about them.

Course Evaluation
Please fill out the following course evaluation.
If you complete it seriously, you get the points.
I will not hold anything against you when you criticize me. I want to know what I could do better. Please be honest.

Due:
Watch this presentation and do the assignment that is stated within the lecture.
Due:
Watch these lecture videos
Answer these questions.
How can you determine where an image is formed when projecting it through a lens?
What are the two types of images that can be formed? When will each of those types be formed?
What happens when the object is placed at the focal point?
Again, ask me a question you ponder during all of this.
In class, we would have been drawing diagrams and finding images, but I think that is a bit much at this point in time. I just want to expose you to this.

Due:
Here is a presentation on Refraction.
Part of your assignment is stated in the video.
Also, here is another demo video.
Finally, your last part of the assignment is to ask a question you are wondering about that has to do with all of this assignment.
I really enjoyed answering your great questions on the other assignment.
If you want to know more about why the sky is blue, watch the Mark Rober video as well (not part of assignment but good)

So I realized as I was doing those demos and with some of your questions... that we never talked about resonance. Therefore, we are going to back track for a day and take a look at resonance.
You are to watch the video lecture and...
Tell me something you learned and found interesting
Tell me what things you use in everyday life that apply resonance frequency. (give me 3)
I also added a cool video from of a 2-D flame table.
This will be the last assignment of this week.

Due:
0086 is basically what Young's double slit experiment is
0088 is how light interacts with a mirror.
0085 is standing waves
the other is other wave application
Finally I want you to watch the video by Nigel Stanford
It is a music video that relates a lot of what we just learned
I want you to private comment on all of this by:
What you found interesting (at least 2 things)
AND
A question about something you see in these videos.

Phet has come out with remote learning labs for what we are going over.
There are 3 such labs.
We will be doing those this week.
This is all we will be doing this week.
I will attach all to this assignment, but will only expect you to have the FIRST ONE done by the end of Tuesday.
I will assign the other ones later in the week.
I am giving you all of them now as I am also giving Calculus final this week and many of you will have to block out some time for that and I want you to manage your time properly.
You will be using the Phet simulations, but this one should be accessible on all devices.
It's called wave intereference.
Follow the directions in the labs exactly.
If you don't know what it is asking, go back to your notes or look up the definition of the word. If you still have trouble, email me.

We learned a little about diffraction when seeing Young's double slit experiment.
Scientists took this concept and began to use it with X-Ray diffraction.
Answer the following questions about X-Ray diffraction.
(some answers you can get from the video some you must research).
1. What is diffraction?
2. What can X-Ray diffraction help scientists to determine?
3. What did Rosalind Franklin discover using X-Ray diffraction?
4. What are some other applications of X-Ray diffraction?

Complete the problems on the second page of the attached document.

Due:
So far we have seen the different types of waves and a little bit about sound waves. With the Doppler effect, you saw that it can be applied to light as well.
BUT, is light a wave or is it a particle? This is what we will be learning today.
Make a prediction.
Then watch my lecture video and follow along on the attached notes sheet.
After we are done with that... watch the videos that explain the two experiments

You will find the solutions to the examples in your notes below.

Due:
Go to the website.
Fill out the first page on notes sheet based on the site.
Listen to the doppler effect song (follow the lyrics). Get the bass line in your head.
Watch the videos
Fill out the sonic boom part of the notes
I will post a video of the sample problems by Tuesday.

Due:
Watch the video and fill out the second page of the notes sheet from yesterday (attached below)
Also, play around with the PHET simulation that I posted (it does not require java, it's should work on any device)
Tell me three things you learned or found interesting while using the sim.
Maybe, take a video and post it!

Fill out the notes sheet as best as you can as you watch.
Only fill out the first page... then do the first two example problems on the next page.

Due:
These videos describe how a speaker works.
How does this apply to what we have been learning as far as magnetism, electricity and the right hand rules?
Also, do a little research and explain how a relay switch and a breaker (in an electric box) work with the same in mind.

Great meeting with you all tonight!
I will post the video for that on the announcement page.
The following work will be from the book pdf that I put on the announcement page as well.
Show your work when necessary
P. 647 #1-4
P. 650 #5-8
P. 654#16-18
P. 658 #21-24
P.s. this is on SLADER but it doesn't help you to copy.
We will be having a quiz on some of these problems in the future. And also a shortened magnetism test. Quiz will probably be before Easter break and Test will be after.

If you were unable to attend. Watch the video and show me some notes you took about it.
Thanks for making it happen!

Welcome to Electroboom day!
Review the following videos.
Your focus should be on magnetism and how the right hand rules work. (there are 3 of them).
We will be learning about these in our Zoom meeting on Wed.
I will make an announcement with an official time tomorrow. (I am thinking about either 10:30 am or 8:30 pm)
In a doc or in a private comment, tell me what the 3 different right hand rules describe.

So I had you watch the video on Electricity... now there is one on magnetism.
You have two days to complete this assignment.
Again, 10 things you learned or found interesting.
BONUS opportunity. IF you can figure out what the electomagnetic wave dance move is AND perform it AND take a video of you doing it AND send it to me... you will get a bonus.
There is more bonus to come in the future for this...
If you can't watch the video below try one of these two links.

Due:
Find a permanent magnet in your house. Find a couple paper clips or other items.
Try to make the paperclips magnetic. Show me a before magnetized and after magnetized video.
Also try to find things around your house that are magnetic and give me a list of some interesting ones.
DON'T apply a magnet to electronic devices.

I gave you a couple of easy days... here is one that is a little more involved.
Attached you will find a document. You all should be able to open and edit your own.
I want you to fill out the FIRST PAGE ONLY of this document.
You are to research the answers for the blanks and the questions. It should not take all that long if you sit down and do it.
Please do not write a huge paragraph for each question. Just answer the question correctly and move on.
I could put up an audio of me telling you the answers, but I think you will get more out of it this way.

Thank you all for getting me the test. I will get that graded soon.
Here is a video for you to watch over the next two days (being that it is 55 minutes). It's a great transition from electricity to magnetism (we were going to watch this in class).
I want you to list 5 things for each day (10 total) of something you learned or found interesting in the video.
Make it electricity/magnetism related (not that you thought it was interesting that the guy's name was "Spider").
The first video is the one I really want you to watch. However, I have also included a youtube link to the video (although it's slightly different).

I am considering using some of the Phet simulations for lab, but some of them require Java.
Basically, if you have a computer... you can probably do it. Chromebooks cannot.
Try it out at the link below:

Here is your Circuits Test.
Have this completed by the end of the day on Friday.
You may use your notes.
You can do you work and answers on a separate sheet of paper and send them to me (as pictures or pdfs) or you can print off the test then send the pics of that completed to me.
