Rebecca Slate is Soroptimist Student

Soroptimist International of Somerset County honored Rebecca Lynn Slate, Boswell, as student of the month. Slate is the daughter of David and Crystal Slate.

She is a student at North Star High School, where she is enrolled in the honors classes and takes college courses. She participates in marching band, cheerleading, forensics, quiz team, musical, band and chorus. She is the drum major for the marching band, co-captain of the cheerleaders and co-captain of the forensics team. Slate was student of the month, on honor roll, a Camp Cadet graduate and an OYW finalist.

Outside of school, Slate is a junior firefighter and state certified EMT for Boswell Volunteer Fire Department. She is a member of the Praise Team at Christian Community Church. As a firefighter and EMT for Boswell VFD, she adds up many community service hours.

She hopes to major in biochemistry, then attend medical school to become an ER doctor and a paramedic.

Slate enjoys reading, studying, spending time with family and friends, and running on EMS calls.

Soroptimist International of Somerset County is a service club of business and professional women. The name “Soroptimist” means “best for women” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve, women working to help other women/girls to be their best.
