PA Maple Festival 2019

The Pennsylvania Maple Festival would like to invite young women entering their senior year to participate in the preliminary auditions for the selection of the finalists for the 2020 Pennsylvania Maple Queen Scholarship Pageant, which will be held on March 7, 2020, at which cash scholarships in the amount of $2,500, $1,000, and $500 will be awarded to Queen Maple 68, 1st Maid of Honor, and 2nd Maid of Honor, respectively, along with cash awards for individual award winners.

Interested students should see Mrs. Koontz.

High Achieving Seniors with Financial Need - Scholarship

 

Cooke College Scholarship Program

Scholarships can open doors for students who aspire to go to college but don't have the funds. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation provides one of the largest scholarships in the country for high-achieving students with financial need.

The Cooke College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. In addition to the monetary award, Cooke scholars receive comprehensive educational advising, significant cohort-based programming, and graduate school funding, as well as access to a thriving network of more than 2,600 fellow Cooke scholars and alumni.

The Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program application (exclusively through the Common App) closes November 13, 2019.

Triangle Tech (Greensburg) Tour

If any senior would be interested in touring Triangle Tech in Greensburg please let me know by next Wednesday, September 11th.  Transportation and lunch will be provided.  If we can get 10 interested participants we will plan to visit in late October. 

 

The visit to Triangle Tech will give students the opportunity to learn more about the career opportunities that exist in the following fields:

- CADD with Additive Manufacturing & 30   Printing

- Maintenance Electricity & Construction

- Carpentry & Construction

- Refrigeration, Heating, Ventilation & Air                                                                Conditioning

- Welding & Fabrication

Free or Reduced Tuition for spouses and children of the National Guard

Pennsylvania’s Military Family Education Program (MFEP)
Beginning in the Fall 2020, MFEP, administered by PHEAA and the DMVA, will allow the spouses and children of National Guard members to attend college for free or at a reduced cost. It is the first of its kind in the nation and expected to benefit up to 8,000 military family members. An additional 6-year service commitment with the PA National Guard is required.

Cambria County College Fair Sept 2019

The Cambria County College Fair will Tuesday, September 10th. If any student is planning on attending he or she should stop in the office and get a "College Visit" form for an excused AM absence.  Students are responsible for their own transportation to the Cambria County College Fair. 
All 11th grade students attend the Somerset County College Fair in the spring at the National Guard Armory in Friedens.  Transportation is provided to that event.
